Firewire

Firewire - The Connection for Everyone

Firewire cables provide high speed communications between computer peripherals. Also known an IEEE-1394 high-speed serial data bus, this standard specifies speeds up to 393Mbps.

This makes it ideal for connecting digital camcorders, cameras, scanners, music systems and other consumer hardware directly to a personal computer. Firewire is a cross-platform system that features simplified cabling, hot swapping, and high transfer speeds.

Built for Reliability and Durability

Firewire cables are built with high grade materials surrounding two 28 AWG shielded twisted pairs and two 22 AWG power lines. All wires are stranded and utilize a copper braid to shield against EMI/RFI interference. There are two different Firewire connectors, easily identified as having either 4 or 6 pins.
