SGA-SERIES - Singlemode Attenuator

The SGA-series attenuator is a simple design that will fit onto existing 3mm jacketed fiber. This 3-loop design allows the user to adjust attenuation by adding or removing fiber from each loop. Loop attenuation is based on controlling the diameter of the bend in the fiber. The controlled bend adds no reflections, will not harm the fiber and is reusable.

Note:
Attenuation values are based on 1310 nanometer singlemode operation using 3mm jumper cord with Corning SMF-28 fiber. Other cords (i.e. smaller diameter outer jackets) or other glass manufacturers may exhibit different attenuation levels. AT&T depressed clad fiber exhibits approximately 1/4 of the attenuation of Corning SMF - 28.
