Some
years after the introduction of our small 337i nitrogen laser with its
sealed plasma cartridge, customers started requesting a special OEM
version. We developed the 337i OEM nitrogen laser with low EMI and adjustable
pulse energy.
Performance
The
337i nitrogen laser provides 4 nsec pulses at 337 nm in the UV. The
pulse energy can be adjusted over
the range of 150 to 200 µJ resulting in a peak power of 36 to 50 kW
and an average power of 3 to 4 mW at 20 Hz. The pulse repetition rate
can be varied from 1 to 20 Hz. The laser is externally triggered with
a TTL pulse. Reliable firing allows synchronization of the laser and
other timed events. Our fixed electrode and discharge stabilizing preionizers
result in constant pulse shape and good pulse to pulse stability. Low
EMI means the laser can operate side-by-side with computers and sensitive
electronics.

Straight-Forward
Operation
No
alignment is necessary as the resonator mirrors are mounted on the plasma
cartridge and aligned in the factory. No gas or cooling connections
are needed. No warm-up time is required. The laser is ready to operate
when the system is turned on.
Modular
Design
The
polymer encapsulated plasma cartridge module includes all the components
that deteriorate over time. That is, the field replaceable unit incorporates
the energy storage capacitors, the spark gap switching element, the
plasma tube with factory aligned resonator mirrors, the electrodes,
and the preionizers. Once replaced, the user regains the performance
of a new laser at a fraction of the cost!
Long
Life
The plasma cartridge is warranted to maintain at least 70% of its energy
for twenty million pulses or two years, whichever occurs first.
Options
Our
new fiber optic coupler and modular holders for filters, attenuators,
energy meters, and other optical components give the design engineer
more flexibility.
