The SPF sponsors an email support group
for individuals concerned with upper motor neuron
disorders HSP and PLS. It was started by Cheryl Stapley
in 1997 for the HSP community. It became an SPF
community service in January, 2002 to serve both the PLS
and HSP communities. Please note that the name "HSP-L"
was retained to maintain valuable archives. Because this
email group dates back many years and HSP is much more
common than PLS, most subscribers are concerned with
HSP. The
technical resources are generously donated by the
University of Georgia.
There is also a yahoo email support group begun in 1999 by
SPF President Mark Weber called PLS Friends. This email group
was the first one established for the PLS community. It also includes people with Amyotrophic Lateral
Sclerosis (ALS) because PLS can mimic ALS in its early
years and those subscribers often remain in the group. Please
contact Mark
for more information on this group and the PLS-News
group that he started later.
As a subscriber to HSP-L, you will receive a lot of messages every day.
There can be many conversational postings as well as
posts about daily life issues with these disorders. Feel
free to ask any questions.
NOTE: If
this is too much email, you can modify your settings to
receive a Digest that will come once or twice per day
and contain all the messages. Please see the
FAQ to modify your
subscription settings after subscribing.
To subscribe to HSP-L, use the form below. You can
also subscribe, unsubscribe, modify your subscription
options, read/post messages, and access the archives
from the University of Georgia's LISTSERV
website. Please refer to
the HSP-L
FAQ for instructions on getting a password
and managing your subscription by email or using the
LISTSERV website.
Please note that the default subscription format is
to receive individual mailings. If you prefer to receive
the digest version of the list or to read the postings
at the LISTSERV website instead of receiving individual
e-mail messages, you will need to modify your options
after you subscribe. See the HSP-L
FAQ for details.
