Save the Date!  The 2004 SPF national Research and Beyond Conference and TeamWalk For Our Cures Weekend will be in the Boston area, August 27-29. See 2003 TeamWalk Summary.

 

Upcoming Conferences (stay tuned):

  • March 6, Raleigh, North Carolina Conference features leading Douglas A. Marchuk, Ph.D., Duke University, recipient of one of the first SPF Research Grant and special PLS break-out session.  See press release.

  • March 13, Orlando, FL Connection featuring a support group gathering and special break-out sessions for significant others to meet while those with HSP/PLS meet to talk about special topics and concerns.

  • May 1, New York Conference in Tarrytown (near NYC) featuring Dr. John Krakauer, professor of neurology at Columbia University and Dr. Charles Smith, neurologist at the Multiple Sclerosis Care Center of Westchester on treatment of spasticity.

Fremont, CA: January 17

Casual Connection Lunch at the Washington Hospital. Fremont is 40 miles south of San Francisco. Meet others over lunch for sharing, support and learning.  Contact Linda.

 

Denver, CO: January  24

A Connection Luncheon will be held at the Saint James Church Hall. $15 Registration Fee covers lunch and meeting and is due January 13.  Registration Form.  Contact Dale Rutschow.

 

Burlington, MA: April 24

A Connection Luncheon will be held at the Four Points Sheraton.  Contact Kathi.

 

NOTE: Local groups for related organizations such as the MDA, ALS Association, National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Ataxia Foundation, may allow members of our community to attend their support groups. Please check out these resources. Additionally, these local groups are run by members of our community and other members of our community are specifically encouraged to attend:

Ann Arbor, MI
Every second Friday of the month, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm, University of Michigan (in partnership with the NORD Michigan Chapter). Organized by Joan Mathay, R.N., nurse of John K. Fink, M.D., the SPF Medical Advisor.

Norristown, PA (nearly Philadelphia)
2nd Saturday of the month, 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Mercy Suburban General Hospital. In partnership with the Ataxia Foundation local group. Contact Liz Nusseur.

Garden Grove, CA (near LA) - Monthly Support Group Meeting
In partnership with the Ataxia Foundation local group. Contact Kay Bell.

North Carolina/South Carolina - Quarterly Support Group Meeting
Quarterly meeting alternates locations between Spartanburg, SC and Brevard/Asheville area in NC. In partnership with the Ataxia Foundation local group. Next meeting is in December in Spartanburg. Contact Cece Russell.
