Corporate Profile

About LOT-Oriel UK
L.O.T. is the UK's leading independent distributor of radiometric, photometric, spectroscopic, and imaging instrumentation. For over 20 years, we have been supplying leading edge scientific instruments to industry and academia in the UK and Ireland. We represent a number of manufacturers of scientific instruments who are leaders in their chosen fields and are pleased to represent the LuminousOptics-Hoffman product line to our customers.

For many of our customers, the purchase of one of our instruments represents a significant commitment of resources, both financial and personal, and in many cases it will form the core of a research project, and will affect the lives of those involved over a long period. Or it could be an essential part of a key online inspection process. Therefore, it is vitally important that we have the knowledge base to understand your applications before you buy and the resources to ensure that you get the installation, training and maintenance support that you need.

Our relationship with our customers begins with an understanding of their application and requirements. To achieve this, we have built up a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers who have in-depth training in our products and how they will fit into a user's working environment. We undertake to provide applications support throughout your instrument's working life.

We are part of the European L.O.T. group, which has its head office in Darmstadt, Germany. We have sister companies in France, Italy, Holland and Switzerland. As well as providing financial stability, we are able to call on a deep pool of knowledge around Europe to complement our own.

The lumen is the luminous flux emitted into a solid angle of 1 steradian from a source which has an intensity of 1 candela. In other words, 1 candela = 1 lumen/steradian.
The lumen is a weighted value of watts. The luminous flux of a source is calculated by integrating the product of the spectral flux (power per unit wavlength band) and the CIE V-lambda curve. The integrated value, or area under the curve represents the total lumens from this source.
