Eagle Bank is a state-chartered, mutual savings bank with over 120 years experience in the financial services industry. We received our original charter from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on March 1, 1889. On that date, the Massachusetts Senate and House of Representatives authorized the founding of the Bank. On May 11, 1889, we opened the doors for our first day of business. At the end of the day, deposits totaled $4,570. Today, total assets are approximately $440 million.

Commitment to the community has always been a priority. During the depression, readers of the local newspaper could depend on the Bank to give sound, thoughtful advice. During World War II, the bank received authorization and sold defense bonds and stamps which were important to the raising of funds for the war effort.

The Bank remains committed to its time-honored tradition of making significant contributions to the community, including the continuation of the School Savings Program, which was instituted in 1922 in an effort to encourage school children to save money, as well as its participation on the Scholarship Committee. Since 1986, the Eagle Bank Scholarship Committee has awarded over $165,000 in scholarship funds.

Since 1939, the Bank has recognized the importance of home-ownership by participating in various government funded programs which enables it to provide low-cost and competitive mortgage loans. Today, this is evidenced by our First Time Home Buyer Programs.

This is now . . .

One constant over the years has been and continues to be the Bank's mission of providing quality service to all Eagle Bank customers. Convenience plays a major role in this regard. The Bank currently has six branches, one of which is in a neighboring community supermarket. ATM facilities are available at all locations. Constantly aware of diversity in our ever-changing environment, the Bank offers a multitude of mortgage programs and rates to satisfy every home buyer. The Bank is also a member of the SUMSM ATM network, enabling customers to use other participating bank's ATMs without surcharge. In 1998, the Bank introduced Eagle Access 24-hour telephone banking. This service provides Eagle Bank customers 24-hour access to their loan and deposit account information. Late in 2000, Internet banking with Eagle OnSite was introduced, providing customers with additional convenient access to their accounts wherever and whenever they can connect to the Internet. In addition, online bill pay has quickly proven itself as a valuable resource and is now considered a necessity by many customers.

Eagle Bank has flourished despite past national and regional economic difficulties and is a frequent recipient of notable industry-related excellent and superior ratings. We have evolved into a full-service financial institution moving toward the future with the values and traditions of over a century ago.
