Worthen Industries has served the shoe industry continuously for over a century.
EcoBond® systems save labor, time, energy, space, and money by eliminating
roughing, priming, multiple adhesive applications, UV curing, and drying.
The
UPACO Footwear Products Group focuses both on increasing the comfort of footwear
and on prolonging its life through improved bonding and waterproofing. Over the
years, we introduced many innovative systems and products for our customers.
The Footwear Products Group offers bonding systems including
solvent and water based, natural and synthetic, standard hot melts and PURs (polyurethane
reactives) for every operation from simple combining to permanent sole attachment.
We developed PermaSeal® Systems to waterproof footwear with welt and triple
needle construction.
In the area of waterproofing, we developed PermaSeal®
Systems to waterproof footwear with welt and triple needle construction. Additionally,
we offer solvent and water based seam sealers and seam sealing tapes to enhance
waterproofing in both footwear and garments.
The Footwear Products Group developed gaskets for sealing
membranes for covering strike plates in golf shoes and for Strobel constructions.
Our gaskets enable manufacturers to produce better products faster and with lower
material costs.
We
developed EcoBond® film adhesives for both in-mold and out-mold
applications. While originally formulated for PU (polyurethane) soling, EcoBond
systems now cover virtually all sole and midsole compositions. EcoBond systems
save labor, time, energy, space, and money by eliminating roughing, priming, multiple
adhesive applications, UV curing, and drying. UPACO developed a Stitch-Less®
film as an extension to EcoBond systems. Using Stitch-Less film enables designers
and manufacturers to produce products that are seamless, less expensive, waterproof,
and lower in overall weight.
In a major step toward extending footwear life, the Footwear
Products Group introduced BioShield®, a fungicide and mildewicide
additive for adhesives and coatings. Adding BioShield to rubber compounds prior
to molding or to fabrics increases protection against fungus and mildew in footwear.
In order to serve international shoe manufacturers, UPACO
provides technical and sales support from our offices in Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta,
Bangkok, and Taipei. Further, after twelve years of Asian operations, UPACO Asia
Limited, a fully owned Worthen Industry company, opened in June of 2001 with offices
in Dong Guan City, China and Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong. The Hong Kong office serves
as the distribution center for our full line of adhesives and waterproofing systems
throughout Asia.
