:: It’s about Community
Not only does Medford Co-operative Bank spoil its customers
with unprecedented customer service, it also keeps focused
on what is important to its communities and actively contributes
through charitable donations. The Arlington, Bedford, Lexington,
Malden, and Medford communities receive tremendous support
from Medford Co-operative Bank employees who regularly volunteer
to visit local organizations and support community events.
“All of our branch managers really enjoy their participation
with local Chambers of Commerce, Rotary Clubs, Kiwanis Clubs,
and local organizations,” said Annette Hunt, senior
vice president of branch administration. Members of the
Bank’s senior management team and Board of Directors
have received Citizens of the Year Awards in recognition
of their significant contributions to charities and local
associations.
:: Leaders in Education
Medford Co-operative Bank is leading the local industry
with a strong commitment of time and resources toward public
education and financial literacy. Understanding the importance
of education and acknowledging the cutbacks in critical
school programs over the years, Medford Co-operative Bank
has stepped-up its support of public education. In Bedford,
Malden and Medford, the Bank sponsors Community Newspaper
Company’s “Newspapers in Education” Program,
providing thousands of free newspapers to local area schools
for their faculties to use in their course studies. Bank
employees from all levels participate in the annual “Read
Across America” program.
Bank President and CEO Ralph Dunham presides over the Bedford Business
Education Alliance (BBEA), an organization formed in the
late 1990’s for Bedford businesses to assist approximately
250 faculty members with enrichment and pilot programs,
and teacher development. Mr. Dunham is also a member of
the Lexington Education Foundation (LEF), an organization
that finances educational opportunities and targets areas
such as innovation in curriculum and instruction, professional
development, and teacher mentoring.
Medford Co-operative Bank also takes an active role in
Financial Literacy Programs. Over the years, the Bank has
conducted numerous classes that help individuals from all
walks of life including immigrant parents of young children,
the homeless, and students from the first through seventh
grades.
Over the past year, both the Bedford Business Education
Alliance and the FDIC have presented certificates to the
Bank recognizing its critical role in education and financial
literacy.
