Acton, MA
Acton, established as an independent town in 1735, was once a part of Concord. Acton played a great roll in the American Revolutionary War. Captain Isaac Davis lead Acton's Minutemen to the "call to arms" initiated by Paul Revere. The colonists fought at the North Bridge in Concord as part of the Battle of Lexington. The residents of Acton refer to "the battle of Lexington, fought in Concord, by men of Acton."
Acton remains a suburban community located about 25 miles northeast of Boston. The town has retained its traditional town center and green, historical architecture, stone walls and tree-lined country roads.
North Chelmsford, MA
North Chelmsford is located about 25 miles from Boston, and is not a separate town but one of several "villages" in Chelmsford. North Chelmsford does have it's own zip code, library, post office, police and fire station. However, it is still a part of Chelmsford.
A commuter rail station will be located in North Chelmsford if/when the proposed extension from Lowell to Nashua, New Hampshire is completed.
Carlisle, MA
The Town of Carlisle is a rural residential community about 22 miles from Boston. Residents still enjoy the rural charm of a farming community with winding roads, stone wall, fields and unspoiled woods.
It took Carlisle 72 years to become incorporated as a town. Carlisle began its incorporation in 1732. In 1754 the District of Carlisle was approved and existed for 2 years, 5 months and 17 days before it was dissolved. Finally in 1805 the Incorporation of the Town of Carlisle was approved.
Concord, MA
Concord, incorporated in 1635, is rich with American history. It was here that on April 19, 1775 the first shots of the American Revolution were fired during the Battle of Lexington and Concord. Concord is also the home to some of the nations most influential authors, such as Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Louisa May Alcott, and Nathaniel Hawthorne to mention a few.
Only 20 miles to Boston, Concord has worked had to maintain its rural community charm, beautiful homes and its prestigious private educational establishments. Concord symbolizes the devotion to liberty and intellectual freedom.
Littleton, MA
Littleton, originally spelled Lyttleton was settled in 1686 and incorporated in 1715.
Today Littleton remains an agriculture community with poultry farms, dairy farms and mostly is famous for the finest apple orchards in the state.
Recent development has been primarily suburban, however much of the community has retained it original character and country charm.
