FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SBCA’s SkyFORUM Is This Wednesday
No travel. No H1N1. No registration fee.

Washington, D.C., November 16, 2009 -- The Satellite Broadcasting & Communications Association (SBCA’s) first online event, SkyFORUM®, takes place this Wednesday, (November 18) from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM (ET). SkyFORUM is a virtual event that provides the demos, sessions, and networking found at traditional trade shows but without the travel expenses and hassles, and time away from your business. All that is needed is a computer and a broadband connection. Best of all it is free to attend. More details and the registration form can be found at www.skyforumsbca.com.

“We felt that our industry deserved a new forum to discuss challenges and opportunities, but unlike a traditional tradeshow we wanted our event to go to satellite professionals so they did not have to leave the office and their customers,” says Joe Widoff the Executive Director of SBCA. “The response to SkyFORUM has been tremendous. Commitments from the product and service suppliers have been beyond our expectations. Satellite professionals have really supported the event. Well over 800 companies are already represented with many operations registering multiple staff.”

SkyFORUM highlights include:

  • The opportunity to enter contests to win great prizes, including a Samsung 40” LED TV (from PDI-SAT), a Super Buddy 29 Satellite Meter (from Applied Instruments), iPOD Touch Players (from Installs Inc.) and more.
  • The exhibit floor includes DIRECTV, CASE-SRS, Installs Inc., Applied Instruments, CEDIA, Channel Master, DSI Systems, Pace, PDI-SAT, PPC, Perfect 10, SuperFleet, and USI Affinity.
  • A full day of webcasts (sessions in the virtual world) include: a status report on the National Broadband Plan from Blair Levin, Executive Director - Broadband Initiative, FCC; DIRECTV’s Tony Goncalves discusses their marketing, technology, programming and customer satisfaction initiatives; what it takes to be a DIRECTV retailer (residential, commercial or MDU); the enormous possibilities in DBS installation and product offerings; the emerging video options, products and timetable for the next home video era; and much more. The complete webcast agenda including session descriptions and speaker bios can be found at www.skyforumsbca.com.

The Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association is the national trade organization representing all segments of the consumer satellite industry.
