Available Positions:

Title:  Manager, Communications and On-Line Member Services

Reports to:  Deputy Executive Director, Member Services

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for developing and executing a communications strategy to inform current and prospective members of SBCA of its various programs and benefits.  The primary method for communication will be via online tools such as website, newsletters, blogs, webinars and other online meeting and communications platforms.  The incumbent will also explore the use of social media tools as appropriate methods of communications to and among members.

Position Details:

  1. Assist in the development and execution of a communications strategy for the Association
  2. Identify areas to effectively promote SBCA’s various programs and member benefits.
  3. Oversee SBCA websites for accuracy and industry impact.  Develop or maintain content as required, working with various SBCA staff and contactors.
  4. Interact with SBCA member companies on promotions and programs using existing or new communications tools.
  5. Work with SBCA senior management on coordinating appearances and speaking engagements at national and regional trade events.
  6. Create materials designed to educate consumers and organizations on satellite industry programs, technology and regulations.
  7. Develop partnerships with interested organizations that benefit the Association
  8. Attend conferences and trade events in order to promote Associations membership and education programs.
  9. Explore social media applications that might be used by the Association and its members.
  10. Attend and coordinate SBCA’s presence at industry events.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in creating and implementing marketing and communications programs, primarily using online media tools.
  • Excellent written communications skills
  • Effective communicator with public speaking experience
  • Self starter that takes initiative and follows through
  • Good team player

This will be a six-month full-time term appointment.  Potential to convert to full-time based on performance and budget availability.


Education Assistant

  • Hrs 20 week (flexible)
  • Pay $15-18 hr based on experience
  • Job Description
  • Reports to Education Manager

This is a data entry and customer service position.

  • Answer telephone and e-mail inquiries regarding SBCA education program
  • direct potential new students to SBCA education web site and approved trainers
  • provide existing students with information regarding test results
  • provide members with assistance regarding orders and results
  • Grade tests and enter results in IMIS database as needed
  • Process test orders that are ordered via on line system
  • Organize files as directed by Education Manager
  • Responsible for creating mail merges for collateral order and sending order (weekly)
  • Running recertification notification letters
  • Track any returned collateral and mark it in the database.

Requirements:

  • Experience with data entry
  • Professional phone manner
  • Organized
  • Computer proficient
