Privacy Policy

The SATELLITE BROADCASTING AND COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA, INC. (“SBCA” or the “Association”) has created this Privacy Policy in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to maintaining the privacy of information submitted or otherwise collected from you when using this website, when using the services of the Association, when paying for products or services offered, from time to time, by the Association or when you provide any information about you or your company to the Association. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for these Websites: www.satellite.org or www.sbca.com (collectively, the “Website”).

The Association makes every effort to insure the secure collection and transmission of sensitive user information using industry-accepted data collection and security protocols.

Your submission to us of personally identifiable information is entirely your choice. You may visit and browse our Website without revealing any personally identifiable information about yourself. However, you may also choose to disclose personally identifiable information about yourself or your company by conducting business with us. We may collect personally identifiable information about you if you:

  • communicate such information to us; or
  • subscribe to receive updates or other communications or services from the Association
  • purchase goods or services from the Association. In the later situation and solely for on-line sales of goods or services, the Association presently uses a third party provider to accept and process orders for goods and services and to accept credit card information to pay for such goods and services. This third party provider, presently, “Paypal” is not affiliated with the Association and the Association is not a recipient of any information about you or your credit card account which you may provide to the third party provider. The third party provider has its own privacy policies and the Association recommends that you review such policies and decide you are comfortable with such third party provider’s privacy policy before providing personal or confidential information to such third party provider. The Association expressly denies any responsibility or liability concerning any information and the treatment thereof provided to and by such third party provider, whether or not consistent with their express privacy policy.

Thus, the Association does not collect personally-identifying information through the Website unless you choose to provide that information to us .

The personally identifiable information we collect may consist of contact information (such as your name, email address, zip code), your preferences (such as where you go on our site), and any other information you communicate to us (for example in an email or phone call).

The Association does not sell or otherwise disclose user information outside the organization. This policy has no exceptions, unless you consent in writing to the distribution of such information to a third party. We do not sell or exchange your information with any other organization, public, private, or non-profit. The Association assumes no responsibility for the completeness or accuracy of any user information submitted to us or otherwise collected by us.

Like many other web servers, the Association’s Web server automatically creates log files for each visitor who accesses our site. These "access logs" allow us to make our site more useful to our visitors. The access logs do NOT record a visitor's name, address, phone number, or any other personally-identifying information. Rather, they contain some or all of the following information:

  • The Internet Protocol Address (IP Address) of the machine which accessed the Website
  • The date of the visit
  • The time of the visit
  • The path taken through the Website
  • The browser being used
  • A list of files downloaded or viewed from the Website
  • The amount of time spent listening to streaming media files
  • Any errors encountered

Most Internet Service Providers use a "dynamic" form of assigning IP Addresses. This means that a visitor may have a different IP Address each time he or she visits the Website. Also, many Internet Service Providers, use "Proxy servers" which provide even more anonymity for visitors. For example, visitors accessing the Website may be recorded in our access logs as having the same IP Address.

The Association makes no warranty, either expressed or implied, regarding the completeness, accuracy or currency of the content appearing on this Website, or any other information associated with this Website, or its suitability for any particular purpose.
