SBCA Applauds the State of Louisiana for Amending the Satellite Installer Exam

Washington, D.C., June 28, 2006, -- The Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association (SBCA) proudly supports the changes made by the Louisiana Radio and Television Technicians Board to their technicians certification exams. The new exams will include more questions on today's current satellite technology and installation practices.

The questions were developed based on material covered in the SBCA's National Standards and Testing Certification Program, which has tested and certified over 50,000 satellite installers nationwide since 2001.

"The changes are part of a necessary process where states must consistently update their licensing exams to keep current with the installation practices of the satellite industry. Such action ensures that the needs of the state, the consumer, and the installer are being met," said Noah Cuttler, State Regulatory Affairs Liaison for SBCA. "We are excited to work with Louisiana on this initiative, and we look forward to working with them in the future, as well as other states, to implement similar changes."

The changes came through a collaboration of the SBCA Licensing Subcommittee which is comprised of member companies. The initiative was spearheaded by Keith Barnett, of Directech SW, who was largely responsible for working directly with the Technicians Board to make these changes.

The changes will take place by the end of July and the SBCA will continue to work with the Technicians Board to implement a state specific study guide which will be available to all licensing applicants.

The Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association is the national trade organization representing all segments of the satellite industry. It is committed to expanding the utilization of satellite technology for the broadcast delivery of video, audio, data, music, voice, interactive, and broadband services.
