SBCA Recognizes FCC Chairman Powell For His Leadership
Powell to Step Down After Four Years At Helm of FCC

WASHINGTON, DC, Jan. 21, 2005 – The Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association (SBCA) today released a statement following Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Michael Powell’s announcement that he will be stepping down.

Michael Powell took office at the FCC in 1997 as a commissioner. He has served as chairman for the last four years.

“It has been a pleasure working with Chairman Powell and his staff for the past eight years. Chairman Powell has great dedication and passion for communications and telecommunications technologies and under his steadfast direction these technologies have advanced greatly and benefited the American public,” said SBCA President Richard DalBello.  “SBCA wishes Chairman Powell all the best and we look forward to our continued work with the FCC.”

No replacement has yet been named for Chairman Powell’s position.

The Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association is the national trade organization representing all segments of the satellite industry.
