SBCA ANNOUNCES THREE NEW STAFF ADDITIONS

Alexandria, Va., April 26, 2004 – The Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association today announced the hire of three new members to its staff: Jason Scism as director of Government Relations, Camille Osborne as director of Communications and Abdus Salam as staff accountant. The staff additions are part of a concerted effort to bolster SBCA’s position as a leading force in Washington for articulating the satellite industry’s legislative and policy agenda.

“I am thrilled to add these talented new members to the already wonderful team here at SBCA,” said Richard DalBello, president of SBCA. DalBello took over as president at the beginning of April. “I’m looking forward to working with each of these individuals to further raise the profile of SBCA and its members on Capitol Hill, at the FCC, in the press and within the industry.”

Jason Scism brings impressive regulatory and legislative experience to SBCA as director of Government Relations. His knowledge of satellite and communications issues makes him a strong addition to SBCA’s government relations team. Scism most recently served as special assistant for external affairs for Commissioner Kathleen Abernathy at the FCC. He also worked as a staff member for the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Scism recently received his JD from George Mason University and serves as co-chair of the legislative practice group for the Federal Communications Bar Association. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida where he received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science.

SBCA’s new communications director, Camille Osborne, brings both public and private sector media and government relations experience to SBCA. Most recently, Osborne worked at Public Strategies, Inc. doing crisis communications and government relations for both national and international clients. She served as deputy press secretary and legislative aide to US Senator Zell Miller for almost three years before going to the private sector. Osborne is a graduate of the University of Texas where she received her BS in Communications Studies and BA in English. She also holds an advanced certificate in Spanish language from the University of Salamanca in Spain.

Abdus Salam brings over seven years of accounting and human resource experience to his position as staff accountant at SBCA. Before coming to SBCA, Salam served as staff accountant for the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) for four years. He has also worked in accounting for several businesses within the hotel industry. Salam received his BS in Accounting from George Mason University.
