DAVID T. MURRAY JOINS SBCA AS VICE PRESIDENT OF GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

ALEXANDRIA, VA, April 16, 2002 – The Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association (SBCA) today announced that David T. Murray has joined the SBCA as its vice president of government affairs.  Mr. Murray will lead the Association’s government affairs activities on Capitol Hill, before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and with the administration.  Mr. Murray will report directly to SBCA President Andy Wright.

“Representing our member companies’ interests in Washington is arguably SBCA’s most important activity, and we are pleased to add Dave’s knowledge and experience to our government affairs team,” said SBCA President Andy Wright.  “Dave brings diverse legislative and government affairs experience to SBCA.  He worked as a staffer for a Member of Congress and has lobbied for an individual company and represented the interests of members of a diverse trade association.  This experience makes Dave particularly well qualified to lead SBCA’s government affairs department.”

Prior to joining the SBCA, Mr. Murray led Winstar Communications government affairs activities on Capitol Hill.  Before joining Winstar, Mr. Murray was director of legislative affairs for the Personal Communications Industry Association (PCIA) and served as a legislative assistant to Rep. Sam Johnson (R-TX) where he advised the Congressman on telecommunications, defense, energy, commerce, labor space and science issues.

Mr. Murray resides in Washington, DC, and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, where he earned his bachelor of arts degree in International Relations.
