RUPERT MURDOCH TO DELIVER MORNING KEYNOTE ADDRESS DURING APRIL SkyFORUM SYMPOSIUM

ALEXANDRIA, VA, February 28, 2001 - The Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association (SBCA) and SkyTRENDS today announced that Chairman and Chief Executive of News Corporation, Rupert Murdoch, will deliver the morning keynote address at the 15th semi-annual SkyFORUM satellite/ financial symposium. The event is being held Thursday, April 5, 2001, at the Marriott Marquis in Manhattan with Mr. Murdoch delivering his speech at 9:00 a.m.

"Rupert Murdoch is recognized the world over as one of the most powerful and influential persons in media, and we are honored to have him speak at SkyFORUM," said SkyTRENDS Chairman, Jeff Torkelson. "His experiences in all aspects of media and his vast knowledge of the satellite services industry and its history should provide an interesting window into what the future holds."

As chairman and chief executive of News Corporation, Mr. Murdoch oversees one of the world's largest vertically integrated media companies. News Corporation's global operations include: newspaper and magazine publishing on three continents; significant book publishing interests; major motion picture and television production and distribution operations; as well as television, satellite and cable broadcast operations in the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia and Latin America. In addition to his role as chairman and chief executive of News Corporation, Mr. Murdoch serves as chairman and chief executive officer of Fox Entertainment Group.

News Corporation owns the United Kingdom's News of the World and The Sun newspapers, as well the The Times, the Sunday Times and HarperCollins Publishers. In addition, News Corporation's publishing interests include capital city and suburban newspapers in Australia, and The New York Post and The Weekly Standard in the United States. News Corporation purchased Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation in 1985, and the following year, the Company purchased six television stations from Metromedia, creating the Fox Television Station Group. In January 1997, News Corporation acquired New World Communications Group, resulting in the expansion of the Fox Television Station Group to 22 owned-and-operated stations, including eleven in the top twelve U.S. markets, with a combined reach of 40% of U.S. television households. News Corporation has since expanded to 23 stations, and has agreed to acquire the ten stations in the Chris-Craft group.

News Corporation is the major shareholder in British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB), the U.K.'s first satellite broadcasting operation, which was launched in 1989. BSkyB is widely regarded as the world's most successful direct-to-home satellite broadcaster. Through its ownership of Hong Kong-based STAR TV, the first and only pan-Asian satellite broadcast service, News Corporation provides a variety of locally-oriented programming services to more than 300 million people in Asia, the Indian sub-continent and the Middle East.

In October 1996, News Corporation launched the FOX News Channel, a 24-hour news service which now reaches 52 million cable and satellite homes in the U.S., and has begun to expand internationally. In June 1997, FOX/Liberty Networks, a joint-venture with News Corporation, announced the formation of FOX Sports Net, a national, regional and local supplier of sports programming which now reaches 63 million homes. In September 1997, a joint venture of News Corporation acquired International Family Entertainment, which included The Family Channel, which currently reaches more than 74 million television households. In April 1999, News Corporation and its subsidiary FOX Entertainment Group, announced that FOX would acquire all of Liberty Media's 50% interest in FOX/Liberty Networks. This includes FOX Sports Net; FX, the cable entertainment channel; and other related businesses.

In addition to its media holdings, in March of 1998, a unit of News Corporation purchased the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. The Company also holds a 40% interest in STAPLES Arena in Los Angeles and an option to purchase a minority interest in the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team and the Los Angeles Kings hockey team.

In June 2000, News Corporation announced the formation of Sky Global Networks, Inc., which will serve as one global entity for News Corporation's equity interests in satellite distribution platforms including BSkyB, STAR TV, Stream, Sky Brazil, Sky Mexico, Sky Multi-Country Partners, Sky PerfecTV!, and its equity interests in NDS Group and TV Guide.

In September 2000, News Corporation acquired Liberty Media's 21 percent interest in Gemstar-TV Guide International, making it the world's largest shareholder in the world's leading provider of interactive programming guides and TV Guide Magazine. - more -

The semi-annual SkyFORUM satellite/ financial symposium runs from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on April 5, 2001, and will include several panels featuring leading industry executives discussing a variety of industry subjects. They include: "Surfin' USA: Satellite Broadband Goes Nationwide," which will focus on the rollout of two-way broadband Internet access via satellite; "Straight From the Street," which will feature forecasts on new products, services, and overall industry trends from some of Wall Street's top satellite industry analysts; and "Point of Purchase: Interactive TV Provides a Reason to Buy," which will examine interactive television products and how the industry is marketing them to consumers.

In addition, there will be one-on-one interviews with satellite industry executives including: Eddy Hartenstein, corporate senior executive vice president, Hughes Consumer Sector; Mark Pagon, chairman, president and CEO, Pegasus Communications Corp; Hugh Panero, CEO, XM Radio; and Bob Phillips, president and CEO, NRTC.
