We want
you to feel welcome from the first moment you walk into Hamersley's
Bistro. Sink into a cozy banquette, enjoying the warmth of the buttercup-colored
walls and the buzz of the open kitchen. Be greeted by your friendly
server, who provides expert suggestions on the perfect combination
of food and wine. Enjoy a satisfyingly simple, hearty meal, prepared
from seasonally fresh local ingredients. We see Hamersley's as an
elegant Boston translation of the homey, family-run country bistros
of France. You'll see how the beautiful architecture of the restaurant
reflects the meeting of France and New England, with the rough wooden
ceiling beams salvaged from a Connecticut barn in harmony with French
tapestry florals. The open kitchen- one of Boston's first- creates
a lively, fun touch, and gives Gordon Hamersley a chance to show us
all how much he just plain loves to cook (and eat, too, but that's
another story...)
Each visit to Hamersley's should be a special experience,
so we make both creativity and consistency our priorities. This
means that our house specialty Roast Chicken with Garlic, Lemon
and Parsley will always be delicately moist; and that our new dishes
like Halibut in Crispy Rice Paper with Peaches and Mint will intrigue
and delight you. We're not just talking about the food, either-
please use our welcoming staff as your resource for a great evening.
Most of our waiters have been with us for years and want to help
you choose the most delicious array of food. Don't forget about
the wine! Fiona Hamersley's lovingly chosen, eclectic wine list
features changes with the season, just like our menu. Your waiter
is very knowledgeable about our wine list, so don't hesitate to
ask for ideas.
Some things have changed since we first opened sixteen
years ago. We now have more seating, a private dining room, and
a brick patio for casual outdoor eating. Everything else, though,
has stayed the same. We still make gracious hospitality our first
priority. We're still the friendly place that welcomes spur-of-the-moment
walk-in diners, and we're still the place where you'll feel equally
at home in a little black dress or old jeans. We're still the cozy
place where you can completely relax after a long day. And you'll
still see Gordon most nights with his trademark baseball cap, cooking
up a storm in the open kitchen. Many of our guests feel so at home
here that they think of us as their favorite neighborhood restaurant,
even if they don't live in the neighborhood.
