DTC Video Receivers
DTC designs and manufactures a wide range of
video receivers, from an open frame “brick
receiver” designed for our OEM market, to
a five receiver, briefcase diversity system with
recorder and monitor. Currently we offer standard
products in L and S band, with C band products
being developed. Most of the products described
below are available “off the shelf”
in low volumes.
The
Vortex™ Series of receivers are ideal
for low cost, point-to-point links. The open frame
version is a light weight board level assembly,
with no external packaging. A rugged, fully enclosed
version is available as well. Both feature ten
user programmable video channels, each with two
user programmable audio sub-carriers. Received
Signal Strength Indication is available either
as an analog voltage level, or may be interrogated
via a serial port. Encryption using Ovation Micro-ViewLock
II™ is available as an option, and mounts
internal to the unit.
The
Vortex™ Diversity Series receivers are ideal
for mobile applications, or where there is significant
movement of objects in the environment, such as
vehicles. All DTC diversity receivers use true
diversity, meaning multiple antenna/receiver pairs
are used to evaluate one transmitted signal arriving
via different RF paths. The best signal is selected
and switched to during the horizontal retrace,
or over 15,000 times per second. The Vortex™ Diversity
Series uses two receivers and two antennas, which
may be located remotely from the receivers. They
are available as open frame or packaged units.
The MiniPIX™ Series of briefcase receiver/recorders
provides an ideal receive platform in law enforcement
and military applications. Two receivers are mounted
in a briefcase, with two antennas mounted in the
lid. DTC’s proprietary VideoVoter™
diversity logic board is used to select the best
received signal. The unit operates off AC, DC
or internal, rechargeable batteries.
Three recorder/monitor options:
- The MiniPIX™ MPX-800 uses a Sony GVD-800
with Super8 recording format and a 4”
color monitor
- The MiniPIX™ MPX-1000 uses a Sony GVD-1000
with MiniDV recording format and a 4”
color monitor
- The MiniPIX™ MPX-123 uses a 10”
monitor in the lid, and offers an optional Sony
GVD-200 recorder using the Super8 recording
format
Note: Briefcase receivers are not shown for security
purposes.
Choose the solution that best fits your need.
The SplitPIX briefcase
and rack mount units feature cross band diversity
operation. You have your choice of operation using
two receivers in a “high” band, or
two receivers in a “low” band. The
active band is selected by a switch on the panel.
In effect, you get the performance of two complete
MiniPIX™ systems in one unit. This flexibility
is ideal when you have transmitters operating
in multiple bands.

The SuperTRIAD
and VR-450 provide additional performance capability
by offering up to five receiver/antenna pairs.
Antennas may be located up to 100’ from
the receivers. The rack mount SuperTRIAD is ideal
for surveillance and command vehicle operation.
The VR-450 briefcase version is perfect for portable
operation where you have time to set up antennas,
which are connected via the exterior of the case.
Having more antennas allows you to place antennas
over or around obstacles, generally improving
your video quality.
