One of the most important and rewarding activities of the Alumni Association is the awarding of scholarships to deserving undergraduate and graduate students. Various specified donations to the Association have been combined in an Investment fund, the income from which is used for this philanthropic purpose. On January 26, 2011 the Alumni Association awarded $87,000 in scholarships and $15,000 in Grants.

Students who wish to apply for the Alumni Association Scholarships should stop by the Alumni Association Office in the Alumni Memorial Library, North Campus, to pick up an application or print and use the form below.

Scholarships and grants are awarded in January for the second semester.

Applications must be returned to the Alumni Office in the Alumni Memorial Library building second floor, by November 23, 2011.

Alumni Association Scholarships

Scholarships to assist with tuition and/or miscellaneous fees and are renewable provided satisfactory academic standing is maintained. Matriculating students are eligible to apply.

Jacob Ziskind Memorial Fund for Upperclassman

Scholarship funds are restricted to upperclassman. Scholarship to assist in tuition and miscellaneous fees, scholastic aptitude.

Scholarships in memory of Henry C. Gehring and his son, Edward. Recipients selected on basis of scholarship record, personality, ability in leadership, extra curricular activities, financial need.

The University of Lowell Bookstore Associates Scholarship Fund was established December 6, 1995. Recipients of said scholarship are based on scholarship record, demonstrated ability in leadership, participation in extra curricular activities, and the financial need of the applicant.

Joseph Kaplan Fund

The evening was a great success, and scholarships were awarded to 86 students. The IUAAL Alumni Association manages trust funds out of which scholarships are awarded every year.

Over the years, the trust funds have grown significantly.

The INDEPENDENT UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION at LOWELL is an organization that is independent of the university and has a board elected by the alumni. It should not be confused with other alumni groups on campus.

The Scholarship Committee is chaired by George Duggan. Members of the Scholarship Committee who organized the event include Richard Donaldson, Walter Dawson, Mary Ann Kitrosser and Joseph Dixon.

The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented each year to an alumnus who has either made significant contributions in his or her field or has been active in promoting the university.
