One of the most important and rewarding activities
of the Alumni Association is the awarding of scholarships
to deserving undergraduate and graduate students. Various
specified donations to the Association have been combined
in an Investment fund, the income from which is used
for this philanthropic purpose. On January 29, 2009 the Alumni Association awarded $81,000 in scholarships and $15,000 in Grants.

at Lowell Scholarships
Students who wish to apply for the Alumni Association Scholarships should stop by the Alumni Association Office in the Alumni Memorial Library, North Campus, to pick up an application or print and use the form below.
Scholarships and grants are awarded in January for the second semester.
Applications must be returned to the Alumni Office in the Alumni Memorial Library building second floor, by November 25, 2009.

Lowell Bookstore Associates Scholarship
The University of Lowell Bookstore Associates
Scholarship Fund was established December 6, 1995.
Recipients of said scholarship are based on scholarship
record, demonstrated ability in leadership, participation
in extra curricular activities, and the financial
need of the applicant. |

George G. Armstrong, Jr.
Memorial Scholarship The George G.
Armstrong, Jr. Memorial Scholarship was established
July 1. 2000. George G. Armstrong, Jr. was a professor
of Designing, Weaving and Warp Preparation at
Lowell Textile Institute and then Lowell Technological
Institute through 1959. Recipients of said scholarship
is restricted to a Junior majoring in the Plastics
area, a United States Citizen, with G.P.A. of
3.2 or above. |

Alumni Association at Lowell Awards & Scholarships

The INDEPENDENT UNIVERSITY ALUMNI
ASSOCIATION at LOWELL held its Annual Scholarship
Awards Banquet on January 28, 2009 at Princeton Station in Chelmsford.
The evening was a great success, and scholarships
were awarded to 83 students. The IUAAL Alumni
Association manages trust funds out of which scholarships
are awarded every year.
Over the years, the trust funds have grown significantly.
The INDEPENDENT UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
at LOWELL is an organization that is independent
of the university and has a board elected by the
alumni. It should not be confused with other alumni
groups on campus.
The Scholarship Committee is chaired by George
Duggan. Members of the Scholarship Committee who
organized the event include Richard
Donaldson, Walter Dawson and Mary Ann Kitrosser..

The Distinguished Alumni Award
The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented each year to an alumnus who has either made significant contributions in his or her field or has been active in promoting the university. |
