Mode Selector . . .
  AUTOMATIC

  - senses the force transducer signals from each end of the roll which
are measuring the reaction forces caused by the web wrap and controls the
current to the servo valve in proportion to the difference between the
two signals. The TPC System is always working to balance these two signals
by repositioning the roll. Response rates are full proportional and wil
accomodate a maximum baggy edge shift from one side to the other without
a web break, e.g., a web splice passing over the TPC System at full web
  speed.

 - The TPC roll freezes into its last position when the web is stopped
and assumes its customary automatic mode when the web is started.

  NEUTRAL

  - The TPC roll may be located in a level and tram position for web threading.
With the primary machine off, the operator may select neutral and immediately
switch to auto mode for threading. The TPC roll will maintain the neutral
position due to the freeze circuit mentioned above until the primary machine
is turned on when, again, the TPC Sytem will assume a normal auto mode.

  MANUAL

  - The TPC roll may be positioned manually through the roll position potentiometer.
It's used for checking relative roll motions and system effectiveness as
well as purging hydraulic lines of any air during initial instillation
or maintanence cyccles. It may also be used to control the web during times
  of minor electrical maintanence.

  Sensitivity Control . . .

  - Potentiometer setting varies the sensitivity or stiffness of the system;
high settings(9.5) for thin films or low settings(4) for board stock. Its
primary function is to match the web dynamics to the machine. Overall system
gain may be varied by adjusting a potentiometer located internally on the
  P/C board(located inside panel).

  Digital Panel Meter Display . . .
  TOTAL

  - total web tension in pounds; sums the two transducer signals from each
  end of the roll.

  DIFF

  - the difference between the two transduccer signals; used to verify
system performance as well as checking the relative dimensional quality
of the parent jumbo roll with the TPC in neutral position.

  Internal Test Switch . . .

  - sixteen test points may be checked within the system for installation,
calibration, and test purposes; voltage outputs are read directly on DPM.

 - push button located on P/C board will light up all meter segments for
  testing

NOTE: When the meter is in the run mode, (toggle switch on P/C
board) its output is held and displayed for three seconds for easy reading.
Incoming signals are also filtered so that the meter outputs represent
  more meaningful averages.
