Have you ever concluded a production or Q/C meeting by questioning the alignment? Or how about raising your hand questioning the need for more auxiliary hardware, e.g. bowed rolls, steering systems, etc. for the same reason? You've lived with the innacuracies of tape measuring from roll to roll, tram rods, piano wire, mirrors, etc. and still wonder. Expediency forces the above compromises; with Yorkshire you don't have to make compromises anymore.
The time might be right to correct and doccument this unknown once and for all. The proven alignment technique, of course, is with optical tooling. Yorkshire is uniquely equipped with state of the art laser optical alignment equipment. Precise parallels, squares, and levels are achieved with two jig transits. Measurements are made at each end of the roll to within one thousandth(.001") of an inch and each measurement is absolute and not taken from roll to roll. Cumulative errors are eliminated.
The benefits are amazing. Wrinkle formation is greatly reduced. Steering systems are left with those small errors generated by the web itself or registration corrections. And the fixed machine alignment errors contributing to baggy edges are eleminated. You are left with an ability to make decisions regarding your process with the absolute knowledge that the machine geometry is fixed (pinned), correct, and is not influencing the web in some strange and unknown way. Physical errors in the web may now be studied by themselves.
