What are some of the most common things missing from a customer's
digital file?
Fonts, defining the colors, missing EPS files, hard copies,
or linked files are the most common disk problems that we
see. Also, we do require a color proof or picture of the
finished job when you submit your purchase order.
What is the difference between an EPS file and a TIFF file?
EPS and TIFF are file formats or ways that a file can
be saved. EPS is a generic format that allows information
to easily be transferred between different programs and
from a program to an imagesetter. EPS files cannot be edited,
in other words, we could not change the image or change
the text, we generally can, however, resize an EPS file.
TIFF is a format for a scanned image. It also easily transfers
information from one program to another. However, a TIFF
file is just a "picture" of the art and is not
made up of the individual elements of vector art as in
an EPS file.
Why is a proof necessary?
We require you sign and return your proof to us to ensure
that you know exactly what your finished order will look
like and approve the text, images, size, and placement
of everything. It is mandatory that we receive your dated
and signed proof before proceeding with production. We
will accept a faxed back signed proof for one-color jobs
to start production, however the actual proof must be returned
before we will commence printing. No phone approvals will
be accepted. Once you approve the proof, any and all errors
that may have been overlooked are your responsibility.
Thus, any further costs incurred after approval will be
billed to you.
How long will it take to receive my order?
Once we receive your artwork, we'll send you out a paper
proof for your approval. This ensures that you know exactly
what you are going to get in the finished product with
regards to size, color, and layout. Once you've returned
the proof, our express line of products generally ships
in 5-10 working days and our standard line generally ships
in 12-15 working days. Please note, however, any customized
products or large quantity jobs will take longer, so please
consult your customer service representative for a scheduled
ship date.
Can I customize my product?
Of course you can! We provide stock products to make the
production process easier for you and keep costs down.
However, Pilgrim has the ability to custom create the perfect
product for your needs in almost any size, shape or number
of colors.
What do you mean by "four color process"?
"Four Color Process" refers to the printing
method that uses four basic colors (cyan, magenta, yellow,
and black)
to produce a rainbow of colors. This process is ideal for
printing color photographs. Please note that we print 4-color
process images at 150 line screen. To print in 4-color process,
please add $95.00 (V) for proofs.
Do you guarantee PMS color matching?
The Pantone Matching System (PMS) range of colors is created
from specific formulas using a CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow
black) base. It was created to print on paper. Since we
print on plastic, we cannot guarantee exact matches due
to the production process. However, we will attempt to
come as close as possible. Ink matches can vary plus or
minus one shade. Printing on colored vinyl will cause greater
variations from PMS colors than printing on white vinyl.
On reorders, ink colors may vary slightly from year to
year.
- To match a PMS color the charge is $50.00 (V).
- To match a color swatch the charge is $90.00 (V).
- To match a printed ink color on colored vinyl (i.e. not
the standard white vinyl), the charge is $135.00 (V).
Our standard inks for screen-printing or offset printing
available at no additional charge are:
- Black PMS 266 Purple PMS 490 Brown
- PMS Process Blue PMS Warm Red PMS 165 Orange
- PMS Reflex Blue PMS Rubine Red PMS 109 Yellow
- PMS 349 Green PMS 185 Red PMS 131 Ochre
- PMS 354 Green PMS 202 Burgundy PMS 321 Teal
Why do I receive more/less product than my original order?
It is an industry standard to ship +/- 10% of an order due
to printing requirements. If an exact quantity is required,
there will be a 10% surcharge added to the invoice.
