Lymphedema is the chronic swelling of a body
part caused by a malformation (primary lymphedema)
or malfunction (secondary lymphedema) of the lymphatic
system. Secondary lymphedema often develops as
a result of surgical and medical interventions
for the treatment of breast cancer. A high protein
edema can most often affect an arm or a leg, but
can also occur in the face, neck, abdomen or other
parts of the body. In accordance with the award
winning lymphatic drainage techniques that were
designed in France by Bruno Chikly, MD our therapists
utilize a distinct manual process to enhance lymphatic
flow along precise anatomical routes. The recognition
of extensive and complex lymph vessels, combined
with appropriate manual therapy, can improve venous
conditions, detoxify the body, relieve chronic
pain and swelling, and enhance the regeneration
of some tissues.
