Dedication
This website is dedicated to the memory of Marcia; a wife, mother and
friend, who touched the lives of so many with her positive attitude and
joy for living. Although her life on earth ended far too soon, her
spirit lives on through the Marcia Lemkin Foundation.
The
Silent Killer
Lung cancer is
the leading cause of cancer death among both men and women. It was
estimated by the American Cancer Society that there would be 154,900
deaths from lung cancer in 2002 (89,200 among men and 65,700 among
women), accounting for 28% of all cancer deaths. According to the
American Cancer Society, more people die of lung cancer than of colon,
breast, and prostate cancers combined!
Our Mission
The mission
of The Marcia Lemkin Foundation is to create public awareness of the
necessity for early detection screening for lung cancer, to make
available the most current information pertaining to lung cancer research,
and to provide a national forum for lung cancer patients, survivors and
their families. The Marcia Lemkin Foundation is
supported by people like you--people who want to make a difference and
we greatly appreciate your help.
