New SOLUTION 21 System Designed for Sheet Extrusion Applications

Billerica, MA (January 24, 2003)…EGS Gauging, a provider of specialty web product measurement and control solutions, will feature their latest web measurement and control solutions at Brasilplast 2003 in Sao Paulo, March 10-14. EGS will exhibit in the booth of their distributor in Brazil, Engenharia e Comercio Ltda. (Booth #J60/K61).

The new SOLUTION 21 System from EGS, specifically designed for sheet extrusion applications, will be featured, as will the company’s SYSTEM 21 product, equipped with a newly-enhanced Micro-Beam HR non-nuclear film sensor. Both the SOLUTION 21 and SYSTEM 21 are designed to provide film and sheet producers with a better capability to measure and control the thickness / basis weight of their web products.

The new SOLUTION 21 features an Sr.90 beta gauge mounted on a LPO scanner frame. This economical system is for applications requiring high end measurement only, or minimal automatic process control. It is the ideal platform for extruded sheet lines where the line speed and web width dictate that manual die control is the most cost effective method of operation. The Windows based software provides the operator with clear, fast and accurate displays of web profile, average thickness / basis weight, and peak to peak thickness variation, etc. Feedback loops can be provided for machine direction controls such as extruder screw speed. Roll reporting is offered as a standard function within the system.

In line with all EGS products, SOLUTION 21 offers open communication possibilities allowing networking via standard communication protocols.

SYSTEM 21 product line is designed for companies producing coated and converted products, and is used in a wide variety of continuous web applications.
