System 21 Maintenance Training
Course Outline

Course Objectives
Throughout this course the Designated Maintenance Technician (DMT) will learn how to troubleshoot and maintain your System 21 using established EGS Gauging techniques. The DMT will be able to locate and solve both process and system problems with minimal support from EGS Gauging. This course provides the DMT with system knowledge through lecture, discussion, and hands on training.



Prerequisites
The DMT must have basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills and be proficient in the use of a volt /ohm meter. The candidate must know and understand the machine process and be able to read and comprehend schematic drawings, and convey detailed information over the telephone.

Course Schedule
Each training day runs from approximately 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM with an hour for lunch (provided). A list of local hotels along with maps and directions can be obtained from EGS Gauging Customer Service.

Evaluation
Each attendee will take an examination covering safety issues and common troubleshooting procedures. Results of the exam will be available for customer review. Upon successful completion of the course, the attendee will receive a Course Certificate.

Courseware
Each attendee will receive all necessary materials to complete the course.

System 21 Maintenance Training
Course Schedule

Day 1
Introduction
Brief discussion of course objectives, schedules, along with a tour of the Manufacturing Facilities. Review customer specific configurations and their impact on the training.

System Overview
Describes the role that each major item plays. Explains the M21 and how it serves as a distributed processor within SYSTEM 21 architecture General overview of a typical system layout and an explanation of the interconnections.

Safety
Discussion of safety measures to be used when working in and around EGS Gauging Gauging Equipment. Includes electrical and mechanical safety from both a personnel and equipment standpoint, Electrostatic Discharge Control (ESD) and Radiation Safety.

Documentation
Discussion of all related documentation and its purpose. Describes the System Log Book and how it is used to better maintain the product.

Ethernet Network
Describes the Ethernet network and its role in SYSTEM 21. Identify methods to troubleshoot Ethernet faults.

Hardware Architecture
Identifies the parts of each system, Sensor, Frame, Electronics, Operator Console, APC. Describes how each component functions and its role in the system. Perform hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting hardware faults.

Day 2

Software Architecture
Describes the software configuration and layout. Identify each program that runs within the system and its function. Discusses the relationship between Hardware and Software

Sensor Overview
Explains the functionality of the Beta Sensor or Full Spectrum Infrared (FSIR) Sensor provided by EGS Gauging. This part is based on specific system configuration. Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting. A more detailed course is available. Contact EGS Gauging for further details.

Scanner Frame
Deals with the sensor transport mechanism, Scanner Electronics (remote or self contained), and the various signals present in the scanner frame. Explain the Process I/O and how it functions. Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting.

Operator Console
Explains the functionality of the Operator Console. Detailed description of the internal connections within the console. Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting.

Day 3
Review Previous Day

User Training
Operator familiarization: Instruction on operational procedures, such as Recipe Management, Frame and Sensor setup pages, Security, Windows NT Commands. A description of how to perform software diagnostics, such as Sample Check and Air Scan. A complete overview of the software, Wonderware Screens OPC Link and OPC Server.

Auto Profile Control (APC)
Describes all the Hardware and Software associated with the APC unit. Explains how the devices interact with one another. Describe the setup parameters in software and their meaning.

Troubleshooting and Diagnostics
Throughout the course, the student will learn those techniques used to diagnose problems. The student will also learn to use the SYSTEM 21System as a base for finding and correcting problems.

Day 4
Review Previous Day

Alarms and Messages
Teaches the student to interpret and use the SYSTEM 21 alarms and messages as diagnostic tools. How to recognize failures and what actions to take to restore to System to operational status.

Troubleshooting and Diagnostics
Throughout the course, the student will learn those techniques used to diagnose problems. The student will also learn to use the SYSTEM 21System as a base for finding and correcting problems.

System Support
Discusses the EGS Gauging documentation along with the need to maintain up-to-date records of the system performance, Explains how to get assistance when troubleshooting problems. Shows how to use PC Anywhere to connect to EGS Gauging via modem for support. How to order spare and replacement parts.

Review of course
Time to ask and answer any questions or specific system issues.

Classes are held at EGS Gauging, Inc. Reservations are on first come, first serve basis and must be made no less than two weeks before the scheduled class. Course Cost
$2200 for first student, all others attending the same class is at a $ 200 discount. Course cost does not include travel and living expenses.

Cancellations
There will be a cancellation fee of 20% applied to all students canceling within three weeks of a class and a 50% fee for all "no-shows".

Rescheduling
EGS Gauging reserves the right to reschedule a class if there are less than three participants.
