FSIR Maintenance and Component Troubleshooting
Course Outline


Course Objectives
Throughout this course the Designated Maintenance Technician (DMT) will learn how to troubleshoot and maintain the FSIR Sensor using established EGS Gauging Inc. techniques. The DMT will be able to locate and solve sensor problems with minimal support from EGS Gauging Inc. This course provides the DMT with sensor knowledge through lecture, discussion, and hands on training.



Prerequisites
The DMT must have attended Designated Maintenance Technician training; EGS Gauging Course 160 and must know and understand the machine process.

Duration
Classes begin on Tuesday at 8:30 AM and will conclude on Thursday. Friday is an answer and question period for the students with the instructor.

Evaluation
Each attendee will take a 60-minute examination covering safety issues, operational issues and common troubleshooting procedures. Results of the exam will be available for customer review. Upon successful completion of the course, the attendee will receive a Course Certificate.

Introduction .
Brief discussion of course objectives along with the dos and don'ts of visiting EGS Gauging.

System Overview Refresher.
Review of each major item within the CIMLINE System as well as a review of the Advanced Universal Module (AUM)

Safety Review
Review the Safety measures for use when working in and around the CIMLINE System.

Ethernet Network Review
Describes the Ethernet network and its role in CIMLINE System.

Operator Console Review
Review the console computer and console support equipment.

Scanner Frame Review
Deals with the sensor transport mechanism, Scanner AUM, and the various signals present in the scanner frame.

Full Spectrum Infrared (FSIR) Sensor Overview
Provides a detailed explanation of the FSIR Sensor provided by EGS Gauging.

FSIR Configurations
Explains the different configurations of FSIR sensors provided by EGS Gauging.

FSIR Detector
Explains the use of the FSIR detector in web measurement.

Digital Signal Processor - MSP
Discusses the configuration of the Digital Signal Processor (DSP) in the MicroEnhanced Signal Processor

Parallel Signal Processor - MSP
Component level discussion of the MSP Parallel Signal Processor (PSP).

Multi-Functional Power Supply
Component level discussion of the FSIR Power Supply

Concepts of FSIR Calibration
Comprehensive discussion of how the FSIR sensor measures the process web.

Fundamentals of FSIR Calibration
Overview of the FSIR calibration process.

Standard Sample Routine
Provides a discussion of the FSIR Sample Check routine as well as practical experience.

Air Scan Test
Shows the DMT how to verify scanner frame integrity using the FSIR sensor.

Sensor Diagnostic Routines
Explains the various displays used to diagnose problems with the FSIR sensor.

FSIR Source Lamp Replacement
Takes the student through the steps necessary to restore proper measurement after a source lamp change.

Troubleshooting
Practical experience in diagnosing and correcting problems with the FSIR sensor.

Course Registration
CClasses are held at EGS Gauging Inc. Reservations are on a first come first serve basis and must be made no less than two weeks before the scheduled class. Course Cost:
$2750.00 per person, all others attending the same class at $250.00 discount. Course cost does not include travel and living expenses.

Cancellations:
There will be a 20% cancellation fee applied to all students canceling within three weeks of a course, and a 50% fee for all "no-shows."

Reschedule:
EGS Gauging Inc. reserves the right to reschedule a class if there are less than 3 participants.
