dream kitchen
THE KITCHENWORKS PROCESS.
The Center is made up of five fully operational and very different
kitchens, showing you functional ideas on how to make your
dream kitchen come
to life! Students, researchers, and those in kitchen construction
and design have an opportunity to learn about the new products,
applications, and technologies entering residential kitchens
of the new millennium. As opposed to solely learning by lecture
in the traditional classroom, the Center provides a truly
hands-on experience.
The five kitchens represent various price levels and space
designs, and they also reflect the diversity of the family
unit today. The kitchens illustrate how to accommodate a kitchen
to young children, the elderly, and the disabled.
Contributors to the Center include GE Appliances, American
Woodmark, Bosch, Crossville Ceramics, Custom Kitchens, Dacor,
Hafele, Home Depot, Jenn-Air, Maytag, Broan, Kitchen Aid,
Kohler, LesCare, Merillat Industries Inc., Plain or Fancy,
Reico Distributors Inc., Sterling Plumbing Group Inc., Sub-Zero,
and Wilsonart.
You will not realize how much fun you can have in a kitchen
until you come and see for yourself. The Center for Kitchen
Design is a very unique experience that amazes everyone that
walks through the door!
Learn about planning and designing a kitchen that really
meets your needs! The Center for Real Life Kitchen Design
has five complete kitchens, with a wide variety of designs,
products, materials, and technologies. You will explore and
experience the Center during this fun and interactive course.
The class instructors are Virginia Tech faculty and experts
in the fields of kitchen design, universal design, and household
appliances. Bring your plans, ideas and questions about your
kitchen remolding project or your dream kitchen! Each participant
will have an individual consultation with the faculty about
