cabinet refacing
THE KITCHENWORKS REFACING PROCESS.
We want to make your home improvement process as stress free
as possible. Below are the steps we take to ensure that you
receive the quality, service, and value you deserve:
1. BLUEPRINTS are prepared in your home by a qualified
draftsman. This enables us to manufacture custom made doors
and drawer fronts to the precise measurements of your kitchen.
2. MANUFACTURING is the next step. At our local factory
we use state-of-the-art equipment to insure the highest quality
standards in the industry.
3. Now your kitchen is ready for SCHEDULING.
4. REMOVAL of existing doors and drawer fronts is the
first stage of the actual installation process. These doors
are discarded--we do not re-use them.
5. We STRENGTHEN AND REPAIR cabinet frames where needed.
We then carefully sand and prepare the exposed frames to insure
that the proper bonding will take place.
6. We BUILD OUT the underside of all upper cabinets--for
three reasons... It allows us to seal the cabinet frames from
any moisture in the kitchen, it prevents the lower rail of
the cabinet from chipping and splitting, and--it is much easier
to keep clean!
7. Next we DOUBLE BOND all sides, undersides, toe kicks
and face frames with a Furniture Grade Veneer. Our exclusive
"Double Bonding Process" involves the use of a cold PVC adhesive
which is applied to both the panel and the cabinet frame.
The way in which we double bond the cabinet sets us ahead
of industry standards. Hand filing is done after all surfaces
have been covered. This is what gives you that "Furniture
Finish." For oak, birch, maple and cherry wood installations,
we laminate all sides, undersides, toe kicks and and face
frames with a matching top quality wood veneer.
8. New custom doors with concealed hinges and new drawer
fronts are now INSTALLED throughout the kitchen. Doors and
drawer fronts are oak, birch, maple, cherry wood, or a High
Density Fiberboard covered with matching grade veneer. On
wood installations, all materials are sanded, stained, sealed
and lacquered. This process ensures a beautiful, durable furniture
finish.
9. FINISHING DETAILS such as matching mouldings, designer
handles and bumper pads are now installed.
With our products, your Cabinet
Refacing project will be a breeze and turn out like a

your kitchen. With our system, you use thin veneer for the
cabinet boxes with no need for saws or mess, our veneer is
real wood that cuts with a scissors or razor knife. We now
also offer 1/8" veneer end panels that can be pre-finished,
cut to your sizes and contact cemented on. Your outside corners
of your cabinets will look real, not with a piece if scribe
trim that looks out of place. Others also use plywood and
nail through the face, have you ever seen new cabinets with
nails in the face frames??? Look through our Standard Moldings
& Choose scribe moldings, Crowns& much more also offered
in Pre-Finished
First determine if you would like to purchase new doors or
veneer your old ones. You will only be able to veneer flat-front
doors. For a quote or to order new doors, use our door order
form and fax, or, e-mail us the sizes of your doors.
Remember, if you use standard self-closing hinges, your total
door size is 1/2" larger than the opening (1/4"
overlay).
For concealed type hinges our standard width is 1"
larger (1/2" overlay). The height is 1/2" larger
(1/4" overlay).
Width and height may be changed to your preference. But must
be specified.
We can have your doors pre-drilled for concealed hinges.
We also supply Blum brand Concealed Hinges.
You can also purchase a drill bit and drill the doors yourself
if your doors have many different overlays and you want to
fit the doors as you install them. The Blum Compact 33 Hinges
use a 35mm hole. Click Here.
For new dovetail drawer boxes, the width is 1"smaller
than the opening and the height is 3/4" smaller. Depth
will be the same as your old drawers or about 4" less
than the cabinet depth. This will allow you to use easy glide
self-closing drawer guides. Measure your cabinet depth and
choose the size for the drawer guides exact, or to the next
smaller size. These can mount to the side of the cabinet or
preferably, to the back using a plastic boot that is supplied.
