If you wish, you can be met at the airport by an ELC representative
(holding a sign with your name and ELC printed on it). The
ELC representative will also assist you with your luggage
and escort you safely to your dormitory, residence, hotel
or host family. |
 |
We recommend that you secure insurance in your home country
before coming to the U.S. We can, however, help you to obtain
short-term health insurance for the duration of your stay
at ELC. This insurance covers both emergency treatment and
routine medical care, but it is only available for students
who are over 18 years of age. |
 |
Each ELC center publishes a monthly excursion calendar which
you will receive on your first day of classes. Afternoon activities
include tours, sporting events, student sports games, movies,
and other attractions. Every week, trips and weekend excursions
to various points of interest are planned, so you will never
lack for fun and exciting things to do outside of class. Please
contact the school of your choice directly for further information
on the scheduled activities for a particular session. |
 |
Special arrangements with nearby fitness centers in Boston,
Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara allow ELC students to enjoy
short-term memberships at discounted rates. These facilities
are up-to-date in every way --excellent places to maintain
your preferred level of physical fitness. |
 |
If a request for the I-20 is received less than two weeks
before the course start date, the I-20 will be sent to you
by courier. This service, which has a fee of $50, helps ensure
that you will receive your I-20 in time to begin your journey
to the United States. |

In addition to classroom instruction, ELC offers a listening
and computer laboratory to help you focus on particular English
skills. Our audio cassette library features interesting topics
and accompanying written exercises for practice in listening,
pronunciation, writing, and vocabulary at all levels. The
computer lab provides an opportunity to improve your writing
skills using a word processing program or to engage in interactive
learning using CD ROM programs. We also, offer our students
free access to the internet, including private email accounts. |
