Applications/Server Hosting
Host your IBM Mainframe, Unix or Windows systems in the State Data Center on fully-managed systems.
Understand the Service
The Division of the State Chief Information Officer’s (CIO) Applications/Server Hosting service provides for the use of fully managed dedicated servers for customer processing. Our server support consists of the monitoring of system performance and data storage utilization; system software installation, problem solving and performance tuning; and system backups and in-house and off-site backup tape storage for the following:
- Unix or Linux (operating system)
Designed to be portable, multi-tasking and multi-user in a time-sharing configuration. Unix uses plain text for storing data; a hierarchical file system; treats devices and certain types of inter-process communication as files and the use of a large number of small programs that can be strung together through a command line interpreter using pipes.
- Microsoft Windows (software operating systems)
Designed to allow users to execute multiple graphical applications at the same time, through cooperative multitasking.
- Microsoft SQL (server)
Designed to store data in the form of tables and the relationship among the data is also stored in tables.
- .NET
- IBM WebSphere (software product)
Designed to set up, operate and integrate eBusiness applications across multiple platforms using Web technologies. The premier qualities of WebSphere are scalability, performance, security and availability.
- Storage Area Network (SAN) (architecture)
Designed to attach remote computer storage devices (i.e., tape libraries) to servers in such a way that the devices appear as locally attached devices.
- LISTSERV
Designed to be a user friendly way of automatically broadcasting to everyone on your mailing list via e-mail. Each list can be separately managed and easily customized by a list owner through the Web interface.
- IBM® Tivoli® Storage Manager (TSM)
Designed to provide centralized automated data protection with off site vaulting.
