Stand up for your (digital) rights
Digital rights management (DRM) refers to the wide range of systems and services that are used for the description, identification, protection, monitoring and tracking of all forms of digital copyright material throughout the lifecycle of the material.
The Commonwealth Government is committed to assisting development of innovative DRM solutions in this emerging area and has engaged a consortium led by the Australian Interactive Multimedia Industry Association (AIMIA) to develop a concise, practical and easy-to-use DRM Guide. AIMIA's extensive knowledge of the interactive, multimedia and ICT fields is complemented by the other consortium partners Gilbert and Tobin Lawyers, IPR Systems, and Securenet.
Creators, producers and traders alike will benefit from the guide, which will employ best practice advice on management of digital copyright content. Practitioners will be able to select and apply the best possible DRM solutions for their individual business needs. The guide will include case studies, checklists for selecting DRM solutions, legal background material, advice on negotiating rights, extensive references to sources of further study and examples of best experience available.
