LNI Selected to Add ZigBee Transport to the CESL 1.5 Enhancements

Durham, NH - August 12, 2010- Continua Health Alliance recently announced that Lamprey Networks, Inc. (LNI) has been selected to add ZigBee Alliance wireless transport compatibility to the Continua Enabling Source Library (CESL) 1.5 enhancements. CESL is Continua’s reference platform and open code base that is free to all members. LNI was contracted by Continua to complete the CESL 1.5 enhancements in early Q1 of this year and will be adding ZigBee capabilities as an addendum to their original Statement of Work.  In 2008, LNI was awarded a contract by Continua Health Alliance to develop the first CESL protocols, and is excited to have the opportunity to add ZigBee capability to the Bluetooth and USB transport capabilities already included in CESL 1.0.

“We are excited to work with LNI to include ZigBee wireless transport compatibility within the CESL 1.5,” said Chuck Parker, Executive Director, Continua Health Alliance. “This addition to the current CESL 1.5 Bluetooth and USB capabilities will further Continua’s work toward enabling ubiquitous end-to-end interoperability for additional connected health solutions, one of the Alliance’s core ambitions.

The ZigBee Alliance is a global coalition of companies dedicated to creating standardized low-power wireless solutions. The ZigBee technology is built on top of IEEE standards for control and sensor networks, meeting the diverse needs of the healthcare and fitness ecosystem.  In 2009, the Continua Health Alliance endorsed ZigBee Health Care as its low power local area network (LAN) standard, recommending it for use in wireless controls and sensing in areas such as large campuses and residential and commercial facilities, fitness centers and more, because it offers energy-efficient and secure wireless solutions.
