Spectralon diffuse reflectance material is available in large plates, up to 24 inches square, for use as diffuse reflectance targets. Targets are available in Spectralon diffuse white or gray material. The standard reflectance targets are supplied mounted in an anodized aluminum frame. Larger reflectance targets can be constructed by arranging unmounted Spectralon plates in arrays. Seams will be visible but, this will not affect the overall reflectance of the target when a wide field-of-view instrument is used to view the target. It should be noted that reflectance variations may be observed if a small field-of-view instrument (FOV of the order of the seam width is approximately 0.025 inches) is used to view the target. If seaming or shadowing between plates is a problem, arrays can be constructed with either tongue-in-groove or ship-lapped edges to minimize the effects.  

Custom calibration targets of various reflective values are available in sizes up to 3 meters square. Because of the diffuse reflectance properties of Spectralon, these targets maintain a constant contrast over a wide range of lighting conditions. 

Spectralon diffuse reflectance targets are ideal for laboratory and field applications that require long exposure to harsh environmental conditions, such as field validation experiments performed to collect remote sensing data.

Spectralon split targets consist of a diffuse white (99% reflectance) panel and a diffuse dark gray (10% reflectance) panel mounted side-by-side in an anodized aluminum frame. Spectralon multi-step targets consist of four panels mounted side-by-side. The four panels provide equal optical density differences and equal contrast, between any two adjacent panels. The four panels are 0.0, 0.3, 0.6 and 0.9 in optical density; corresponding reflectance values are 99%, 50%, 25% and 12%. The lambertian properties of Spectralon produce a luminance contrast which is independent of illumination conditions.

Each target is provided with complete diffuse reflectance data from 250 to 2500nm, every 50 nm for each panel. Al reflectance calibrations are performed in Labsphere's Reflectance Spectroscopy Laboratory and are directly traceable to The National Institute of Standards and Technology.

These targets are durable, chemically inert and washable. They are ideal for laboratory or field applications that require long exposure to harsh environmental conditions.
