Applications

  • Quality Control of Paper
  • Quality Control of Textiles
  • Suitable for Laboratory or Field Applications

Features

  • Highly Diffuse
  • Consistent Reflectance
  • Non-thermochromic
  • Thermally Stable

Labsphere Spectralon pastel colors tandards are ideal for use in the laboratory or manufacturing situations where the environment may be unpredictable, or where tight color tolerances are required. These color pastel standards provide highly stable, reproducible spectral reflectance. The pastel line of color standards exhibits the same high reflectance properties found in all Labsphere Spectralon products: lambertian behavior, stability and durability.

Consistent Reflectance

The reflectance of the color pastel standards is extremely consistent and very reproducible. The standards are designed to aid in developing consistent color reproduction for manufacturers of paper and textiles, where colors are frequently less saturated than those used in plastic or metals. Consistent reflectance is critical for quality control in the manufacturing process. Spectralon pastel color standards are non-thermochromic, this means that their color is consistent and not affected by temperature shifts in the manufacturing or laboratory environment. Research has shown that a 10°C shift in temperature of the manufacturing or laboratory site causes most commercially available color standards to exhibit some thermochromism1. Because of the thermally stable properties of these color pastel standards, there is no need to control temperature in a laboratory setting. This attribute makes the standards especially well suited to sites where temperature swings may exceed 10° C.

Calibration

All standards a spectrophotometrically calibrated in our state-of-the-art Reflectance Research laboratory with standards traceable to national laboratories. Calibration is available in 0°/45° hemispherical geometry or 8°/hemispherical geometry. Data is available for illuminants A, C, and D65 for both CIE 1931 observer and CIE 1964 10° observer.
