The RT-060-SF and the RT-060-IG are 6 inch diameter integrating spheres designed for measurement of reflectance and transmittance. They are suitable for specular included and specular excluded reflectance measurements, measurements of forward- and backscatter, and the measurement of the transmittance or turbid or scattering samples. The RT-060-SF is coated with Spectraflect and is designed for use in the 250 - 2500 nm wavelength range (UV-VIS-NIR). The RT-060-IG sphere, coated with Infragold, is designed for use in the 700 nm - 20 µm wavelength region (NIR-MIR).
Sphere Geometry

Both assemblies feature five 1 inch diameter ports to accommodate sample and reference beams necessary for a 9° double beam geometry, as well as port plugs required for 9° single beam geometry. A 0.50 inch detector port is located at the top of the sphere. A specular light trap is included for specular subtraction methods.

The sphere ports are knife-edged to permit collection of wide angle scatter and the baffling is minimized to allow the detector a maximum view of the sphere wall. To ensure high sphere efficiency, the total port area is <5% of the sphere surface area. A detector port is located at the top of the sphere and baffled from receiving direct radiation from the specular, sample and reference ports. The integrating spheres each have a mounting assembly consisting of a rod base with a 1/4-20 boss. The sphere height is easily adjusted.

The RTC-06 0-SF and RTC-060-IG add further versatility to the reflectance/transmittance sphere series. With the addition of center-mounted sample holders, users are able to measure reflectance, and in some cases, transmittance versus incident angle of radiation. The RTC-060-XX spheres feature five ports to accommodate sample and reference beams: three ports are 1 inch diameter, two ports are 1.25 inch diameter. A center-mount stage (described below) is located at the top of the sphere and a 0.50 inch detector port is located at the bottom of the sphere assembly. The RTC-060-XX integrating spheres are mounted on a sturdy "H" frame assembly.

 

Center-Mount Sample Holder

The center-mount sample holder allows for the measurement of reflectance or transmittance versus incident angle of light for a wide variety of samples.

Both jaw-style and clip-style center-mount sample holders are included. The jaw-style may be used for samples that can be clamped. Samples as large as 1 inch by 2 inches and up to 0.38 inch thick can be held by the jaws of the sample holder.

The clip-style center-mount sample holder is designed for thin films or samples which do not have the rigidity to be held by the jaws-type sample holder. Samples up to 1.50 inch by 2 inch by 0. 125 inch thick can be measured using the dipstyle center-mount sample holder.

Samples such as thin films, small glass blanks and thin coating samples may be easily measured for reflectance and transmittance at angles up to 45° by use of either of the center-mount sample holders supplied.
