General Purpose Integrating Spheres consist of 10 sphere designs ranging in size from 1 inch to 8 inches in diameter. General Purpose spheres are categorized into two series: Miniature and Standard. The spheres are available with Spectraflect coating for UV-Vis-NIR applications and Infragold coating for applications in the NIR-MIR region of the spectrum.

Sphere Configuration

Each general purpose sphere has four ports with port frames located on the equator of the sphere at 0°, 90°, 180° and 270°. The spheres include a baffle between the 90° and 180° ports. The port frame at 90° is a 0.50 inch diameter port and is designed to accept a variety of detector assemblies and detector holders. Unique to each sphere size, the remaining three ports on any given sphere have the same diameter.

Each general purpose sphere is packaged with a variety of standard attachments. These include detector masks, port frames, port frame reducers, port reducer sets, and port plugs. A selection of optional accessories are available to assist in customizing an integrating sphere to a particular application.

MINIATURE INTEGRATING SPHERES

Miniature integrating spheres includes both a 1 inch and a 2 inch diameter cube design with four ports and a baffle. The design consists of a spherical cavity machined into a cube of aluminum, then coated with either Spectraflect or Infragold coating. The IS-010, 1 inch diameter sphere has a 0.50 inch detector port with three 0.25 inch ports. The IS-020, 2 inch diameter sphere has a 0.50 inch detector port with three 0.50 inch ports. Each sphere has an 8-32 mounting boss post that slides into the sleeve of a sturdy base. Sphere height is adjustable and the base may be removed if alternative mounting of the sphere is required.

Standard attachments include: detector mask, port frame, port frame reducer, port reducer set and port plugs.

STANDARD INTEGRATING SPHERES

Standard integrating spheres includes 4 inch, 6 inch and 8 inch diameter spheres designed with four ports and a baffle. Fabricated from spun aluminum, the spheres are coated with either Spectraflect or Infragold. Each standard series sphere has a 0.50 inch diameter detector port. Corresponding port diameters of the 4, 6 and 8 inch diameter spheres are 1, 1.50 and 2 inches respectively.

The IS-040, 4 inch sphere has an 8-32 mounting boss post; the IS-060 and IS-080 (6 inch and 8 inch spheres) have a 1/4-20 boss; each slides into the sleeve of a sturdy base provided with the spheres. Sphere height is adjustable and the base may be removed for if alternate mounting of sphere is required.

Standard attachments include: detector mask, port frame, port frame reducer, port reducers and port plugs. 
 
STANDARD GENERAL PURPOSE SPHERE ATTACHMENTS

General Information

Each general purpose integrating sphere is supplied with the following standard attachments: detector masks, port frames, port frame reducers, port reducer sets, and port plugs. In the sphere attachment part number designation, the XXX denotes the size in inches and the SF, IG designate Spectraflect and Infragold coatings, respectively. For example, a PF-100-SF is a 1 inch port frame with Spectraflect coating.

DM-050-SF, IG Detector Masks A detector mask serves to mask the black face of the detector assembly so that only the active area of the detector is exposed to the interior of the sphere.

PF-XXX-SF, IG Port Frames A port frame is a circular flange that is swagged onto the integrating sphere at a port. It serves as a mounting fixture for adapting integrating sphere accessories.

PFR-XXX-SF, IG Port Frame Reducers A port frame reducer mounts onto port frames larger than 1 inch and effectively reduces that port frame to a 1 inch port frame (PF-100). It serves as the interface that permits Labsphere 1 inch port frame accessories to be mounted on port frames larger than 1 inch.

PRS-XXX-SF, IG Port Reducer Sets A port reducer (PR-XXX-YYYY) mounts onto a port frame (PF-XXX) and reduces the clear aperture of that port frame to a new value (YYYY).

PP-XXX-SF, IG Port Plugs A port plug mounts onto a port frame (PF-XXX) and plugs the corresponding port. A port plug will also mount onto a frame equipped with a port frame reducer.

OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES

Optional accessories are available to mount lamp light sources, detectors, lens adaptors, laser targets, sample holders, filter holders and detector holders.
