PLMS
Photopic Lamp Measurement Systems are integrating sphere photometers
designed to measure total luminous flux of lamps. The systems
accommodate all lamp types including arc, fluorescent, incandescent
and HID.
Five integrating
sphere sizes are offered, each designed to accommodate a particular
class of lamp defined by their physical size and flux. Each system
includes a lamp measurement integrating sphere, a calibrated luminous
flux standard, lamp power supply, a photopic sphere detector assembly
and an SC-5500 Integrating Sphere System Control.
Lamp measurement
integrating spheres range in size from 10 to 76 inches in diameter.
The sphere design conforms to the recommendations of CIE Publication
84, providing easy-to-operate highly accurate measurement system.
The sphere interior is coated with Spectraflect, a diffuse white
reflectance coating specifically formulated for lamp measurement.
The Lamp measurement
integrating sphere is equipped with a cosine collector sphere
assembly that consists of a three inch diameter integrating sphere
with an integral baffle and photopic response detector. The assembly
adapts to the measurement port of the sphere and offers a wide
field of view, necessary for accurate total flux measurement.
Each PLMS
Photopic Lamp Measurement System includes a precision-regulated
DC power supply to provide highly accurate currents for lamp standard
measurements. An SC-5500 Integrating Sphere System Control operates
the lamp measurement system from either a 7-key front panel control
or via a computer. The SC-5500 contains both IEEE-488 and RS-232C
ports for maximum flexibility in computer connection. The lamp
power supply and SC-5500 Integrating Sphere System Control are
packaged in a rack-mount console.
A
Calibrated Luminous Flux Standard is supplied with each lamp
measurement system. Lamp standards are calibrated in our Optical
Calibration Laboratory with standards traceable to national
laboratories.
Windows-based
software programs are available for enhanced operation of
lamp measurement systems. Please contact the Labsphere Technical
Sales Department to discuss available software options for
specific applications.
Auxiliary
lamps are available for use in more demanding measurements when
the absorption of the test lamp must be considered. Labsphere
recommends the use of an auxiliary lamp for situations where
the physical configuration and characteristics of the test lamps
differ from those of the calibrated lamp. The throughput of
the sphere varies given such differences in lamps, and an auxiliary
lamp corrects for these differences by providing a means of
correcting for lamp absorption.
Calibrated
Spectral Flux Standard are sold in sets of three lamps. The
lamps are calibrated for total luminous flux (lumens). The use
of three lamps prolongs the useful life of each lamp since they
may be used interchangeably. The multiple lamp sets allow the
user to check lamps against each other to verify calibration
data over time. A calibration certificate verifying traceability
to national laboratorie standards is provided for each lamp
in the set.
The
SLP-100 and SLP-200 Spectral Lamp Measurement System Upgrade
packages are available for customers who wish to upgrade their
existing PLMS Photopic Lamp Measurement Systems. The SLP Upgrade
Package consists of a calibrated lamp standard, lamp power supply,
DAS Diode Array Spectrometer (TE-Cooled) and application software.
Please note: Each SLP Upgrade Package accommodates a specific
sphere size.
