The SC-5500 Integrating Sphere System Control is a versatile, microprocessor-based radiometer designed to operate with Labsphere integrating sphere systems. The microprocessor design provides on-board intelligence and lays the foundation for a number of advanced capabilities that are accessible either directly from the front panel or remotely through computer interface. Both an IEEE-488 bus and a RS-232C serial port are provided for flexibility in computer connection. The SC-5500 accommodates silicon, germanium, PMT, and Thermopile detectors. The SC-5500 provides 32 digital output ports for computer control of additional components such as power supplies, light sources and detectors. Up to 100 calibration constants can be stored in units appropriate to the user's application.

Operating Features
Front Panel Display

Two rows of backlit LCD digital readouts show the calibration selected for a particular detector and the measurement in units unique to that calibration.

Cal — Allows the user to select from up to 100 pre-programmed calibration coefficients.

Zero — Allows the user to make relative measurements by storing the current reading in memory and automatically subtracting it from all subsequent readings.

Norm — Allows the user to make normalized value readings by dividing all subsequent readings by the current reading.

Autorange — Commands the instrument to automatically determine the optimum range for the detector. The operator can manually override this control and set the range desired.

Option — Allows for selection of the detector, IEEE address, digital filter, the baud rate, parity and analog or digital display.

SYSTEM CALIBRATIONS

System calibrations are easily programmed into the SC-5500 for direct readout in units appropriate to the user's application. Calibrations are performed in the Labsphere Optical Calibration Laboratory and are traceable to NIST. Units include: spectral radiance (mW/cm2/sr/1µm/1), radiance (mW/cm2/sr/1), radiant flux (watts), luminous flux (lumens) and illuminance (foot-candles).
