DEFINITION OF COMPLIANCE
When
Lucent Business Communications Systems (BCS) commits that our Product
is "Year 2000 Compliant" (also referred to as Millennium Compliance and
Century Date Change Compliance), it means that in the Year 2000, the Product
will perform the functions described in the Product's specifications and
the documentation accompanying it related to the Product's handling of
calendar dates. Some applications (e.g. call detail records, MIS reports)
may function in a different manner when date data spans both the year
19xx and the Year 20xx.
Specifically,
when Lucent certifies that the Product is Year 2000 Compliant:
- In the Year 2000,
the Product will not stop functioning (i.e., the Product will continue
to operate in the Year 2000);
- The Product will
provide valid and correct results, free of material errors, with reference
to the input, processing, and output of date data which references
a given century1 provided that interfacing equipment or
databases properly exchange date data with the Product;
- The Product will
maintain existing date interfaces with other equipment, unless otherwise
noted; and
- The Product,
when processing date data will include:
- Internal system
date data century recognition;
- Functions which
perform calculations using same century date values; and
- Recognition of
the Year 2000 as a leap year.
1
By "century" Lucent means the period 1900 through 1999, or the period
2000 through 2099.
Octel
VMX 100 voice mail systems require software release A.7.1.4 for century
compliance. VMX 200 and 300 systems require L.7.1.5 or Serenade software
release 3.0. The Overture 200 and 300 systems, as with the VMX 200 and
300 systems, require Serenade software release 3.0. Octel Voice mail systems
running below these software release levels will experience the following
issues at the turn of the century:
- The system clock
will roll the date back to the year 1900.
- The "day of week"
programming that controls the system will be running as if it were
January, 1900.
- The day and data
on messages as well as the Time Stamp will be incorrect.
- New and Saved
message queues will be out of order.
- Auto purging
of messages will be incorrect
- Future Delivery
messages will not be delivered.
- The time intervals
for Automatic Security Code Changes will not function.
- The Holiday Table
will not match then current holidays.
Please
contact your Dictronics Account Executive for details about upgrading
your systems for century compliance.

Unified Messenger
|
Release 2.0
|
Release 2.0 is targeted for October
1998. Unified Messenger customers will be upgraded to Rel. 2.0
at no additional software charge. Since Unified Messenger interoperates
with several Microsoft products: Windows NT, Exchange, Windows
95/98, Outlook 97/98, it is important that these versions of MS
products also be Year 2000 compliant (please refer to http://www.microsoft.com/year2000/
for the most current year 2000 status of Microsoft products).
In addition, it is important that customers check with the manufacturers
of their server and client PCs and third-party software vendors
to ensure they are Year 2000 compliant.
NOTE: The date 1/1/38 exhibited
a small number of minor, non-service affecting issues, which
may be addressed in the future.
