THE KITCHENWORKS REFACING PROCESS.

This section is meant to help you measure your existing kitchen if you are planning on starting a kitchen renovation. Before going to KitchenWorks for your new kitchen renovation, grab some graph paper and follow these easy steps to make your kitchen design process go smoothly. Or click here to contact us directly!

Step 1- Gather Everything You Need
Graph Paper, Pencil, Eraser, Measuring Tape, and Calculator

Step 2 – Start with a Rough Drawing
You DO NOT need graph paper for this drawing, and it does not need to be drawn to scale.

Use a pencil so you can make changes easily.

Be consistent with your units, choose IMPERIAL or METRIC and be consistent for all measurements.

Accuracy is important!

Step 3- Draw in Walls and Openings
Measure the overall wall dimensions of the room you are designing.

Start measuring from a corner and measure to the first opening or obstruction.

Note the measurements:

from the corner to the window casing

size of window casing

outside edge of window casing to outside edge of window casing

Continue to measure around the room in the manner described above.

Have your measuring tape three or four feet off the ground when reading measurements on walls.

Indicate all wall lengths, and floor to ceiling height.

Mark the location and dimensions of the windows and doors on the drawing.

Include the width of the trim in the dimension for windows and doors.

Indicate the swing direction of the doors.

NOTE: Please indicate if your measurements are including drywall or from stud to stud. This should measure the new kitchen area.
