Service Level Agreements for CBT/WBT is done on a contract basis, based on the
project. Faculty or staff member will first meet with the Instructional Designer
and Project Manager to discuss the needs of the project. A quote will be provided
after this meeting.
This option allows faculty or other interested parties to create computer- or web-based training/learning modules. These modules can be used to: teach step-by-step instructions for a variety of tasks, including the use of special software programs, or they may be used for employee orientation and training. The above package is the price per module (if multiple modules are planned and are presented to the project manager at the same time, different pricing may be negotiable). A fully-functioning computer- or web-based training/learning module is the result. This project must begin at least six months prior to when the module will be needed. This time frame may be pushed back if multiple modules are desired.

Phase Two: Instructional Designer meets with the Project Manager to discuss
module structure and components (interactivity, etc.). Instructional Designer
meets with programmer to decide on a module template programmer should
create this template and submit it to the responsible party for approval now
so the final template design will be ready for Phase Five.
Phase Three: Technical writing begins (aka storyboarding). The technical writers
job is to use all of the available materials on the subject to create a written,
logical storyboard (this could include meetings with SMEs [subject-matter experts])
this will tell the programmer what goes on the screen when, and has three
sections: audio cues, video/image cues, and programming notes. It is the technical
writer who takes the technical jargon and turns it into (hopefully) something
that anyone can read and understand.
Phase Four: Storyboards are then given to: 1. Instructional Designer, who reviews
and edits, and then passes on to 2. SMEs (if available), who reviews and edits,
and then passes on to 3. faculty member/responsible party, who reviews and edits.

held to make final decisions. The edited copies of the storyboard are then given
back to the technical writer, who makes the requested additions, deletions,
and changes. Once done, the storyboards go back to the above three for final
approval.
Phase Five: Approved storyboards are given to the programmer, who begins to
create the module online. This is generally done using Macromedia Coursebuilder
or Macromedia Authorware.
Phase Six: First draft of online module is submitted to Instructional Designer,
SMEs and faculty member/responsible party for testing.
Phase Seven: Programmer makes any needed edits, additions or deletions.
Phase Eight: Final draft of online module is submitted for testing. Testing
is done by students.
Phase Nine: Module goes live (whether web-based or not) and support
and maintenance are provided if needed.
