How to power on your Segway HT

Acquaint yourself with the following items on the Handlebar: Steering Grip, Mode Button, Key Port, and Display.

1. Gently press the Beginner Key into the Key Port.
2. Listen for a faint tone as the Segway HT turns on.
3. Look for the Display shown at right (3).
4. When you hear the tone and see the Display, remove the Key.

DO NOT STEP ON YET! YOUR SEGWAY HT IS NOW ON, BUT IT IS NOT BALANCING.

DO NOT TOUCH THE MODE BUTTON YET. WE’LL USE THE MODE BUTTON IN THE NEXT STEP.

KEEP YOUR HAND CLEAR OF THE STEERING GRIP. ACCIDENTLY TWISTING THE GRIP COULD PROHIBIT YOU FROM POWERING ON, OR WILL MOVE THE SEGWAY HT ONCE IT IS POWERED ON.

Your Segway HT will automatically power off (times out) if it is not switched to “Balance Mode” (described next) within approximately 60 seconds. If your Segway HT times out, simply restart it with your Beginner Key when you are ready.
