How to enter Balance Mode

1. Stand back from the Segway HT. While holding the Handlebar so the Platform is level
2. Briefly tap (press and release) the Mode Button.
3. After you tap the Button, listen for a faint tone and look for a green smiling face in the Display. A green smiling face means that the Segway HT is in Balance Mode and ready to ride.
4. Check that the Segway HT is in Balance Mode by slowly moving the Handlebar forward and back and making sure that the Wheels respond.

DON’T STEP ON YET. WAIT FOR THE NEXT STEP. YOUR FRIEND HAS TO HOLD THE Handlebar FIRMLY WHEN YOU STEP ON.

You should never attempt to step on the Segway HT unless you have confirmed that it is in Balance Mode by seeing the green smiling face in the Display, and making sure that it moves its Wheels in response to movements of the Handlebar.

If you fail to hold the Platform level, the Segway HT will not enter Balance Mode when you tap the Mode Button. Move the Handlebar to make the Platform level, and then tap the Mode Button again.

ou can tap the Mode Button to toggle between Balance Mode and Power Assist Mode, as long as you aren’t standing on the Platform.
