Massachusetts Association of Public Pension Attorneys
The Massachusetts public pension plan, as contained in General
Laws Chapter 32, provides statutorily defined retirement benefits
to members, retirees and their beneficiaries.
“The purpose of the Massachusetts Association of Public
Pension Attorneys shall be to safeguard and promote the integrity
of the Massachusetts public pension system, the state, regional
and local retirement boards of the commonwealth, and the rights
and benefits of active and/or retired public employees and beneficiaries.
To assist, support and educate retirement boards in the proper
maintenance of ethical and fiduciary standards in plan administration,
policy, development and fund operation.
To assist, support and advise the Great and General Court and
the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission in matters
pertaining to the public pension law.”
