Every file, every movie, every sound, every program on the Internet has an address that is unique from every other object.
That unique address is called a Uniform Resource Locator, or URL, which is the backbone of hyperlinks.
A URL consists of two main pieces:
The protocol and IP address (or domain name) identifies the specific server (in blue, below)
The file name, including directory and sub-directory information, identifies the specific file (in red, below)
