The paragraph, defined by the <P> tag, is an empty element. (You can optionally use a closing </P> tag).
A paragraph element continues "in effect" until another HTML element turns it off.
Also note that in HTML, white space is ignored. You could insert blank lines between each word of the paragraph, for example, and the browser would not display those blank lines.
